Uninstalling
There are three ways to remove a screen saver depending on how the screen saver was installed.
Easiest Option
If the screen saver in question is a Screen-Savers.com screen saver, the best way to uninstall the screen saver is to use the uninstaller included with the program. This is located in the Start Menu. Click on the "Start" button on the bottom left corner of your screen. Scroll up to the "Programs" button then over to the "Screen-Savers.com" folder. Select the screen saver you would like to uninstall and click the uninstall link. The Wise Installation Uninstall window will pop up. Follow the easy directions and the screen saver will be removed from your computer.
More Difficult Option
If you do not have the uninstall program, you can uninstall with Window's Add/Remove Programs program in the control panel. To begin, click the "Start" button and scroll up to "Settings" and select "Control Panel". (See picture on the left.)If you do not have the uninstall program, you can uninstall with Windows's "Add/Remove Programs" feature in the control panel. To begin, click the "Start" button and scroll up to "Settings" and select "Control Panel" (see picture on the left).
|
When the "Control Panel" menu opens, double click the icon titled "Add/Remove Programs" (see picture on the right). In this window, scroll down until you find the screen saver you want to remove (if you cannot find the screen saver you are looking for, proceed to the next paragraph). Highlight the title. The next few windows will guide you through the uninstallation process for that program.

Most Difficult Option
If you cannot find your screen saver in the "Add/Remove Programs" window, you will have to remove it manually. This procedure is recommended for more advanced users. To begin, double-click "My Computer" on your desktop. Once the window opens, double click the "Windows" folder (If you are using Windows 2000 open the "System" folder). Warning: Inside this folder will be many important files that you should not delete. The ones you can delete are the .scr files, these are the actual screen savers. Highlight the one you want to remove and hit the delete key (see picture on the left).
|
To remove support files and links, go back to the "My Computer" folder and double click "Program Files." Find the folder named "Screen-Savers.com" and double click it. In this folder you will find the folders for the screen savers from Screen-Savers.com that were installed. Highlight the folder you want to remove and hit the delete key. This will remove the files supporting the screen saver.
|
The final step is to delete the links in the start menu. To remove these links, right click on the Taskbar on the bottom of the screen. When the menu pops open, click on "Properties." Once the window opens, click the "Start Menu Programs" tab. Click on "Remove" and select the folder you would like to remove from the menu. This should remove the screen saver from your system.
